We are pleased to announce that the 12th International Conference on Random Structures and Algorithms "RS&A'2005" will be held in Poznan, Poland, 1-5 August, 2005.

The conference brings together probabilists, discrete mathematicians and theoretical computer scientists working in probabilistic methods, random structures and randomized algorithms and has been organized biennially since 1983.

On Monday, August 1, the first day of the conference, we shall celebrate the 60th birthday of Professor Alan Frieze. On this occasion, Professor Frieze will deliver a special invited openning lecture and the birthday party will be held in the evening.

This year the plenary lectures will be delivered by:

  • Johan Håstad (The Royal Institute of Technology)
  • Penny Haxell (University of Waterloo)
  • Svante Janson (Uppsala University)
  • László Lovász (Microsoft Research)
  • Éva Tardos (Cornell University)
  • Andrew Thomason (University of Cambridge)
  • Eli Upfal (Brown University)

We reserve 60 minutes for a plenary talk and 25 minutes for each contributed talk.

The Proceedings of the conference will be published as a special double issue of the journal "Random Structures and Algorithms". The deadline for submission is September 30, 2005, but if your paper is ready you are welcome to send it to us now.

The conference will be held in our traditional place nearby Cytadela Park, turned a few years ago to a very nice four star "Hotel Trawinski".
